His Plan

Sometimes, things change when you least expect them to and toss your plans out the window. Jeff will be the first to tell you that I'm a planner and I like to know what's happening and when - at all times. In being a planner, my biggest struggle is dealing with sudden and unexpected change. I could give you a million examples of this but the one that sticks out in my head the most is WEDDING PLANNING! Holy cow is that stressful! We'd get an idea, I'd start rolling with it, I'd hit a brick wall. We'd set a wedding date, I'd get excited, the Marines would schedule their annual holiday party in the ballroom that we booked and the hotel would go with them because it offered more revenue and Jeff hadn't signed the contract yet (true story).

Annnnyway, this leads to the thing that gets me every time: It's not our plan, it's God's plan. Like it or not, that's the way life is. Just when I think I have it all figured out, God throws a wrench in my plan and tells me I'm going the wrong way. The thing is, God knows better then I do (which is hard to admit, I'm not going to lie) and he knows the best road for me/us to travel. When I originally moved to Northern Virginia 5 years ago, the plan I had for myself and my life was completely different then what my plan is today. Funny thing is, that plan will likely change in another 5 years - bet on it. It's amazing what God lays out in front of you. The planner in me tends to get so frustrated when something doesn't go "my way" or the way I had planned it to go, but the Christian in me looks back and laughs at the frustration I felt when God intervened. I just picture God shaking his head and saying, "I told you so. You just have to trust me sometimes!"

I know God, I get it, just be patient with me :)
