Forrest Gump's mama was right!

Smart woman, that one. The one piece of wisdom that I'm referring to is "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get." Let me tell you about the old, moldy, disappointing chocolates that we had this week.

So we started last week off with a severe case of MRSA in the house (old news... already blogged about it). The problem with MRSA is that it is contagious and resistant to antibiotics. We have been tearing the house apart trying to clean every nook and cranny with bleach to get this god forsaken bacteria OUT of our lives. Jeff has been on an IV antibiotic twice a day for a full week and I'm on an oral antibiotic as a precaution. We have been going back and forth to various Kaiser Permanente facilities to get his treatments and each treatment cost either $25 or $35 (depending on the time of day, 1/2 of his treatments were done at urgent care which is more expensive). We are now out quite a bit of money and quite a bit of patience.

On Wednesday, Jeff was driving himself (for the first time) to his Doctor's appointment in Fairfax. He hadn't driven his Jeep in about 5 days but we didn't even think of that being a problem. Now, the Jeep is old. 15 years old to be exact. We're trying to run it until it dies to avoid a car payment. On Wednesday, the Jeep decided to break down on the side of 495. I had to leave work and pick him up, get the car towed, take him to his appointment, etcetera and so forth. At this point, neither of us had worked a full day since last Thursday. Thankfully, we were able to get the car fixed but it took 24 hours and $250 bucks. Bleh.

Yesterday, we driving in the POURING RAIN.... I mean POOOOUUUURRRRRIIIIINNNNG RAIN to yet another Doctor's appointment. This time, my car (my brand new, beautiful car) gets rear ended by some DUMB ASS that doesn't know how to drive. We got soaked in the process of talking to these people and were an hour late to the appointment. Thankfully - no damage to the car. Jeff's doctor was so sweet and actually wrapped up my legs with gauze (GAUZE, HA!) so that my wet jeans wouldn't rub against my legs. She told me she didn't want to see me back in her office with the flu :)

Today was finally a normal day with some good news. I actually worked a full 8 hours in my office and Jeff was able to drive himself to his appointment without any car trouble. He then got some of the best news - we're DONE with IVs!!!!! He gets to switch to oral antibiotics and we may actually have a normal weekend.

You'll find me in my apartment drinking beer and watching football alllllllll weekend. We deserve it. That is all.
