Clumsy: adj [kluhm-zee] - Samantha Lambert

It is a good thing my mother didn't name me Grace. I am notorious for losing things, dropping things and tripping. Yesterday was a prime example...

After work, I was coming home to change before meeting my friend Jess for a walk around her neighborhood. I made it all the way home, parked my car, got out, walked in to the elevator and stopped at the 3rd floor where my apartment is. As I walked out of the elevator my keys somehow fell out of my hand! I still don't know how it happened. Now, if you recall, elevator doors have a small gap at the bottom. This gap can vary in size depending on the manufacturer but most are right around 1-2 inches. I found out yesterday that it is the PERFECT size for keys to fall through! Yep - my keys fell directly from my hand in to the 1-2 inch gap in the elevator door. They fell all the way down the elevator shaft to the bottom level where we found about a foot of greasy, disgusting, swampy looking water. The maintenance man was nice enough to dig around in the filth but to no avail...

Thankfully, the leasing office was able to issue another house key for me and Jeff had the spare to my car. Now to get a new office key, gym pass, and to buy a few more spares - just in case.
