We have all had those days where life is so busy that you can't see to decipher your rear end from a hole in the ground. We forget things we were supposed to do and sometimes fail to follow through on things that were scheduled. While many of us have these days SOME of the time, there are others that just can't seem to get their stuff together ALL of the time. I like to call these folks "chronic reschedulers" or "flakes".
Jeff has a great saying - "Follow up, Follow Through". This phrase, in a nutshell, simply means to finish what you started or do what you say you're going to do. Jeff and I both try to live this way as often as possible - we're far from perfect, believe it. However, we have noticed that there are some folks in our lives that just can't seem to follow through with a plan; ever. They make plans and have to cancel or reschedule them, they don't return phone calls or emails, or they promise to do something with/for us and never actually fulfill that promise. I understand things like this happen every now and then but when it gets to a point where it happens so often that you come to expect it - that's a problem. Now I'm not trying to be preachy or name names here, but please people - follow up, follow through. If you say you're going to do something, do it. When you make a promise with someone or you have a mutual agreement, always remember that the person on the other end of the 'transaction' is counting on you. If you make plans with someone, don't reschedule them unless there is no other way around it. Keep in mind that the person on the other end of your plan has set aside time for you in their day. They could have done something else but, instead, they blocked out time just for you. If someone calls or emails you with an important question, respond to them! I'm not saying to respond to every stupid forward that you get about gang activity in your local area but seriously, take time to look over your emails and listen to your voice mails. The person that called/emailed you may have needed to tell you something urgent.
Anyway, I'm just venting at this point but you get the picture. Put yourself in someone else's shoes and ask yourself how you would feel if you were on the other end of their chronic rescheduling or flakiness.
wow...glad it wasn't me :)
